Why We Exist
JHTC’s mission is connecting the Jewish High Tech Community and its friends together to enhance our opportunities for education and giving back to the community.
The JHTC aims to improve the quality of life in Silicon Valley for Jewish people working in and around technology — and for the Jewish and South Bay communities more generally — by educating them about important trends and issues in technology. Our longer-term goal is to develop charitable and professional development programs.
35+ Years of Community
Founded in 1989
Harry Saal and Joe Seidler, in cooperation with the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, founded JHTC in 1989 to build a sense of community among the many Jewish people working in Silicon Valley. Joe served as the first president, followed by Sam Gill, Steve Benjamin, Dan Rubin, Lloyd Dickman, and Neal Greenberg.
Relaunched in 2006
JHTC relaunched in March 2006 under the leadership of Bill Lazar. Fenwick & West partner Barry Kramer made the Silicon Valley Conference Center available, hosting monthly events beginning with the May 2006 meeting.
501(c)3 Status in 2010
JHTC incorporated at the end of 2008 and was granted 501(c)3 nonprofit status in 2010. Annual memberships, sponsorships, and other donations are tax-deductible.
Today
Under the leadership of President Tanya Okmyansky, JHTC continues to grow — expanding programs with JYA, the Jewish Community Mentorship Program in partnership with J Leaders, and the new Founder Network. Membership is open to people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds.

How often does JHTC meet and where?
Regular events are typically held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at venues including Fenwick & West in Mountain View, WilmerHale in Palo Alto, and the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto.
Do I have to be a member to attend events?
Events are open to all — members, guests, and first-time attendees are always welcome. We’d love for you to become a member of the non-profit JHTC and take advantage of the many membership benefits.
Is JHTC membership open to everyone?
Yes! Membership in JHTC is open to people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds. We celebrate diversity and welcome everyone who shares an interest in technology and community.
